Seagrass baskets, bins and totes provide beauty and organization in a coastal home. Use larger sizes for laundry and towels or storage for bigger items like blankets and pillows. Smaller bins and totes make a perfect toss-all for toys, magazines, flip-flops and more.
Here’s a great DIY Idea!

Our bathroom went through a minor renovation a few months ago. I painted the natural maple cabinet base white and my husband extended the cabinet space by building three shelves.
Looking at this bathroom image from houzz makes me want to paint one of the DIY Wood Lanterns white and use as a coastal decor element. Plus because I have an extra set of flameless candles it would make a perfect night light!

Once all painted we installed a remnant piece of granite and new fixtures. The open shelves were the perfect place for storage baskets found at Target online. The top one holds “hair” stuff — hair dryers, brushes, etc. The middle one toilet paper, and the bottom holds extra towels.
Designed to be pretty and practical, these baskets are made of natural seagrass, making them a breeze to tote around. These seagrass totes come in three sizes. The smallest size is perfect for pillows, knitting projects, books or fire logs. The next size up has fun leather detailing, and the large has a lovely tapered shape – you’ll want to collect them all.

EASY DIY IDEA | EMBELLISH A SEAGRASS BASKET WITH SEASHELLS
What you’ll need for this project:
Seagrass or Wicker Basket of your choice (purchase new or recycle one you have)
Simple Instructions:
Start with a purchased or reclaimed seagrass or wicker basket (any style or size). You can leave the basket “natural” or use spray paint color of your choice to cover all or part of the exterior.
1. Thread twine through the needle.
2. Starting inside the basket, push the needle through the seagrass at about the center of the basket or in the approximate area you want the shell to go. Pull the twine through and leave yourself several inches of slack between the needle eye and the basket.
3. Continue pulling the twine through the basket as you weave and wrap twine around the shell. Do this a few times, tugging gently on the twine just enough to secure to the shell.
4. Push the needle back into to the inside of the basket as close to the other twine strand as you can. Optionally, before the last step, you can apply a dab of glue to the back of the seashell and press to the basket for extra adhesion.
5. Tie the two twine pieces in several knots to secure the shell tightly against the basket.
Place seagrass baskets, bins and totes around your spaces to create natural coastal or nautical charm. As an added bonus let them help keep belongings neat and organized and make your home feel more spacious.
